new portraits

While at work, walking though the artist's studio I noticed the shadows being cast from one of the windows as I walked by. Of course, I had to get my camera and take a few shots. These images are very interesting because of how close they resemble the actual people i photographed. The mannerisms which are reflected come across so realistically that it is a bit disturbing. I particularly enjoy the black frame around the images which is cast by the lack of light in the rest of the room. Nikon D200

A camera can make you feel so good and yet "lack of experience" can reveal to the photographer that one has a long path to still explore! A Leica M6 has proven to me that photography is fun, and I have a long way to go! As I shoot a bit more with this camera, I feel like I am moving back in time! A camera like the M6 and any other camera that just takes you back to the basics, makes you a fuller person! I've heard things like a large format camera makes you think and compose and therefore a better photographer... Want to know something? It is true! A manual camera, no matter what format, allows you to be a more creative photographer! Megapixels, megapixels... Will a Cannon or Nikon Digital camera ever become a classic or a collectible?

I've just started using my Mamiya 645 AF, and I realize I actually like it. It is a bulky camera created more for studio photography than for hand holding, but since I have a difficult time focusing manual cameras because of my bad eyesight, auto focus is rather exciting! Across 100 developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 10mins.
